Dear FG authors, as you perhaps already know, we will have both preproceedings and postproceedings for this year's Formal Grammar meeting. The preproceedings will contain more or less the abstracts that you submitted. They will be distributed as ESSLLI readers during the conference. You will have the opportunity to modify or rewrite your paper for the postpreceedings after the conference. The postproceedings will appear as CSLI online proceedings in 2005. Gerald Penn will take care of the editing of the postproceedings, while I am responsible for the preproceedings. Since the postproceedings will have to confirm to the CSLI style conventions anyway, I propose to format the preproceedings in this style as well. I am aware that this means a certain effort for you now, but this will save you and Gerald some work later when it comes to the postproceedings. Here is what I ask you to do: Please download the CSLI latex package http://cslipublications.stanford.edu/site/cslipubscollection.tar.gz. It contains all necessary style files plus documentation of how to use them. Replace the file ch01.tex in the sub-directory example-ch01 with your contribution. Likewise, replace ch01.bib with your bib-file. Compile everything with latex example in the main cslipubscollections directory. Bibtex is done with the command bibtex example-ch01 in the main directory. *Do not change any other files!* There is one tiny exception: if you need to include graphics into your paper, you can include the command \usepackage{graphics} or \usepackage{graphicx} into the preamble of example.tex. If you desparately need other style files, try \makeatletter \input yourstyle.sty \makeatother in ch01.tex and copy the style file in question into example-ch01. If this doesn't work, get in touch with me. Note that the csli package contains macros for trees, avms, example numberings etc. It would be easier for us if you could prepare your contribution in LaTeX. If this is not possible, you can also use Word. Please get in touch with me in this case. You are free to modify your abstract if you like. However, please do not exceed the limit of 15 pages (csli style). Please send me your contribution no later than !!! JUNE 5 !!! I am looking forward to your submissions, and to seeing you all in Nancy! Best, Gerhard
